Start Making Money Early
Convert your farms to make them produce tobacco, sugar, coffee or pineapple at the start of the game. When the money starts rolling in, start investing in a mine or a logging camp. The money you earn early in the game will help you fund the construction of other important buildings.
Create Additional Construction Offices
Build an extra construction office at the start of the game to speed up the construction of important structures. Later on in the game, you might have to make additional construction offices depending on the number of structures you are building.
Build Plenty of Cheap Housing

Tropico Tips

Build Plenty of Cheap Housing
Build about four tenements at the start of the game. Make sure there is extra space available in case additional people come to your island. Keep the rent cheap, no more than a third of your citizen s salary. When shanties start to pop up, it either means that there is no more space in your housing or the rent is too expensive. One suggestion is to keep a tenement with zero rent to have a place for the unemployed people to stay. You kick them out later on when they get a job so they can transfer to the tenements where they have to pay.
Start Investing in Education Early
Some higher-level jobs such as teachers and plant managers require citizens with a certain level of education. You can choose to hire someone overseas with the required education to come to your island, but you will have to pay for it. This becomes much more expensive the more people you get, so it isn t advisable in the long run. Instead, start building a high school when money isn t much of a problem then follow that with a university. Eventually, your citizens will be educated enough to qualify for the higher-level jobs, saving you money you would ve spent to hire workers from abroad.
Keep Tourists Away From Your Poor and Industrial Sectors
Build tourist attractions and hotels in secluded areas of your island. Cheap housing and pollution brought about by your industrial buildings will deter tourists. The best places to put these structures are usually highlighted in green.
Plan Your City
When residential buildings are far from the areas your citizens work, substantial time is wasted in traveling. Plan your cities in such a way that residential areas are close to places of work. Roads also help your citizens travel, so use them to connect the various areas of your city.
